Biological mechanism that plays key role in early-onset dementia identified

Using animal models, scientists have discovered how a protein deficiency may be linked to both brain injury and to frontotemporal dementia -- which is a form of early-onset dementia that is similar to Alzheimer's disease. These results lay the foundation for therapies that may one day benefit those who suffer from these debilitating and potentially deadly conditions.
