Is anxiety contagious? Scientists study owls and voles to find out

Scientists are investigating the anxieties experienced by an entire social group using the natural predator-and-prey relationship between the barn owl and the vole. Research suggests that the voles' behavior explains human response to trauma or terror, such as that of New York City citizens in the days after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
